• For navigating the tutorial, use the content box at the top and Ctrl + F (for searching for certain words)
• This tutorial is color coded:
• Green is for general markup/syntax
• Blue is for placeholder text such as "Displaytext" or "Singername". They shall be replaced with proper words
• Violet is for specific examples
• This tutorial explains how to edit in source mode
• I suggest disabling the other editors in the preferences if you have an account (My Preferences > Editing > Editing experience > Preferred editor: Source editor)

General NotesEdit

• The page need to fulfill the requirements
• Do not create blank pages and take responsibility by filling them within 24 hours. Otherwise they will be deleted
• Try to fill out as much information and as many fields of templates as you can, but if you don't know something and can't find any more info, you can leave it blank
• Do not add biased information. Cite whenever possible. Go here for how to cite
• When uploading images, use .png instead of .jpg or .jpeg. The siderail of the editing page provides an icon for conversing images! (Siderail > Add features and media > Convert)
• Check out this blog if you're looking for help with Japanese translations
• If you find false/empty pages, add a delete on the page

General Wiki MarkupEdit

• When you see code starting with and ending with , you see a template. Template contain specific predetermined input fields, that you have to fill with values
• Inputfields and values are marked as such: |inputfieldname = inputfieldvalue
• You can load templates directly into the editing area by going to the siderail (Siderail > Templates > (choose from list) > select template > press enter)
• Sometimes you may want to link to other pages on Utaite wiki. Otherpagename will result in a link to the page called Otherpagename
• If you need a link to a page outside Utaite wiki, use Displaytext to get an external link like Displaytext
• If you ever need to put linebreaks, use <br> and a line break will appear
• If you want to put unordered lists (with bullet points), put a * in front of the line
• If you want to put ordered lists (with numbered lists), put a # in front of the line
• If you ever need a redirect, use #REDIRECT Page title
• Ex.) 96neko redirects to 96Neko and as such contains the code #REDIRECT 96Neko

Sources & CitingEdit

• Creditable sources include official websites, tweets, blog posts, Nicopedia, etc.
• If you want to place a citation - they appear like so: [1] and link to the References section automatically
• The markup is where the display text could be something like Mafumafu's Tweet about his favorite food
• If you have one source that you need to link to in different parts of the page, source them like so
• for the first occurence
• for any other occurences
• Notice how Name needs to be the same
• If you don't know the source, use cite instead

Crediting IllustratorsEdit

• Credit Illustrators for featured pictures where ever possible
• If the artist has an entry on the Avatar Illustrators page, use

Illustratornameromaji (Illustratornamejapanese) where I is the letter, the illustrator's name begins with

• If you want to link to the VOCALOID wiki, usePagename where Pagename is the pagename of the article on the VOCALOID wiki
• Also be sure to add the artist to our list of artist permissions, if not already present
• If the artist frequently draws for certain utaite, be sure to add them to the Avatar Illustrators page. Fanart doesn't count
• Add the artist to the page following the page layout, and using the Illustrator template (Siderail > Templates > (choose from this list) > select --Illustrator > press enter)
• |sampleimageX |
• Use an picture, representative of the artist's work. It must be 100 x 100 pixels

• Below the parts of the preload will be explained
• Month XX, 20XX

PlaylistEdit

• If you're adding songs to a playlist, be sure to add the song to the song page as well, if it exists!
• Use the Playlist template for this
• If the singer forbids reprinting of their covers, use {{Playlist|notice = forbid|content = else {{Playlist|content =
• In the playlist, list songs like so:
• # "Songtitle" nndid (Translation) (Notes) -XXX ver.- feat. Singer1, Singer2 and Singer3 (YYYY.MM.DD)

• You may add subsections for e.g. TmBox or Soundcloud covers
• Use

AlbumsEdit

• If you're adding an album, be sure to add the songs to the song pages as well, if they exist!
• If you are adding collaboration albums to collaboration album pages, add the album to the List of Collaboration Albums table too!
• Albums can be used on singer pages, collaboration album pages, and group pages
• {{Album|type=collab

• |crossfadennd = nndid
• The ID often begins with sm or nm
• |albumartist = Artistnameromaji (Artistnamejap)
• |shops =
• Note that the {{l| part contains a lowercase L, not the number 1
• The following websites require the ID code only, instead of the full link
• 7net, actfamily, akibaoo, amazon, animate, bunkyodo, cdjapan, d-stage, due, fasic, gamers, hmv, itunes, joysound, melonbooks, nicochokuhan, three, toranoana, tower, tsutaya, rakuten, recochoku, vvstore
• These shops are all lowercase. Ex.) amazon looks like so AmazonINT
• Shops not listed here need to be provided with the full URL and proper capitalization. Ex.) Shopname
• Shops that don't ship internationally, should be marked with a JP. If not provided, the link would be falsely put into the internationally shipping section
• When providing links of albums by non Japanese singers, it might occur, that iTunes and Amazon links don't work, because these link to the Japanese version of the websites
• For these, proper capitalization of Amazon and itunes will work. Ex.) Amazon, iTunes
• |trackXinfo = nndid (Translation) (Notes) -XXX ver.- (Bonus track)

• Notes include additional infos. Ex.) (Parody of "Songname"), (Original), (Original with GigaP), (Anime OP/ED/Insert song/OST), (Bandname song)
• Use hyphens (-) to note particular arranges or versions. Capitalize version titles. Ex.) -Band edition-, -Piano ver.-, -English ver.-, -Screamo Rearrange-
• |trackXutaite = Singer1, Singer2
• If the album is a collab or duet album, use this to denote who is singing
• If an album has different version where some tracks vary or if the album has multiple discs, use tabbers:
• <tabber>
XXX ver. =

|-|
XXX ver.-

</tabber>

GalleryEdit

• Convert images to .png format if they are in .jpg or .jpeg format. A link to a decent converter can be found in the siderail (Siderail > Add features and media > Convert)
• Try to keep the amount of pictures in the gallery to about 12. We do not need an image from every cover that they have done
• To add an image, all you have to do is add the image file's name after the vertical bar symbol (|) and a caption after every second (|) with the Gallery template
• Ex.) |imagename1.png|Singername's avatar in ...
|imagename2.png|Singername as seen in ...
|imagename3.png|Singername as seen in his cover of "Songname"
|imagename4.png|Singername as seen on Twitter
|imagename5.png|Singername as seen in ...A if the artist has an entry in the Avatar Illustrators page
|imagename6.png|Singername as seen in ...B
|imagename7.png|Singername as seen in ...1149660 if the artist has a pixiv page
|imagename8.png|Singername as seen in ...<br>Illust. by Kirei na Ossan (綺麗なおっさん) for links containing a equal sign (=) have to be fixed by substituting = with

• Do not post pictures of singers that do not like reprints of their photos. DO NOT post the picture(s) here!
• Keep the maximum of real life photos to 3
• Real life photos that may be added:
• snapshots of a public concert, not from private concerts!
• official promotional photoshoots (for shows/projects/singles/album/official homepage, etc.)

• photos uploaded by the singer themselves. Do not forget to cite the source

Song PagesEdit

• A good example of a song page is magnet, Senbonzakura, or Hatsukoi no Ehon
• If you are creating new song pages, add the song to the List of Songs table too!
• Song pages have a Song template and a Song covers template
• Simply preload the page template of Song pages from the siderail. (Siderail > Template > (choose from this list) > select --Page Template > press enter)
• Below are explanations of the Song template fields:
• |image = imagefilename.png
• |songtitle =Songnameromaji<br>(Songnamejapanese)<br>(Translation)
• |nnd = and |yt =
• These fields should link to the original song (usually the VOCALOID version). The nnd ID often begins with sm or nm. The yt ID is the part after watch?v= in the link
• |producer = Music, Guitar & Movie - Producername<br>Illustration - Illustratorname
• This field should be filled with the persons involved in the original song, and their roles
• Below are explanations of the Song covers template fields:
• |ytX = and |nndX =
• These fields should link to the cover on YT and NND. The nnd ID often begins with sm or nm. The yt id is the part after watch?v= in the link
• Some covers are not on YT or NND. In this case we have some other alternative fields
• |bbX =
• For bilibili songs. The ID is the part after /video/ in the link
• |koeX =
• For Koebu songs. The ID is the part after /koe/ in the link
• |tmX =
• For TmBox songs. The ID is the part after /pl/ in the link
• |scX =
• For SoundCloud songs. The ID is the part after /tracks/ in the embed link, not the normal link
• |boxX =
• For box songs. The ID is the part after /s/ in the link
• |cdX = Pagename#Albumname
• For album only songs, that are featured on the wiki. Pagename is the page the album is featured on, Albumname is the name of the album as written on the page
• Ex.) |cd5 = Asamack#Tobidase! Asamack Radio
• |urlX = http://www.websitelinkname.com Websitename
• For websites on which not frequently covers are posted, or for websites of albums, that aren't featured on the wiki yet. Ex.) |url4 = http://www.voiceblog.jp/devilneko/1644160.html Voiceblog
• |titleX = Altalbumname
• If the albumname for cdX differs from the one that should be displayed, or if urlX links to an album, the album name shall be put in here
• |singerX = Singername<br>(YT singer)<br>-XX ver.-<br>(Note)
• If the singer is a YT singer, note it by writing (YT singer) after the Singername
• Use hyphens (-) to note particular arranges or versions. Capitalize version titles. Ex.) -Band edition-, -Piano ver.-, -English ver.-, -Screamo Rearrange-
• If the song is a parody lable it with -parody-
• If the song features vocals of several singers use Singer1 x Singer2 to denote that
• If you want to list both the collabgroup and the singers, use Groupname<br><small>Name1 x Name2</small>
• Notes include
• (deleted) used to identify deleted covers; reprints may be provided
• (commu) community only covers; they may be linked to as only people in the utaite’s community may view them anyway; no YT reprints may be used here!
• (private) a cover that the user has made unavailable to public; no YT reprints may be used here!
• (muted) refer to covers whose track got muted by YT

NicollaboEdit

• If the song has a Nico Nicollabo tag on NND, use the Nicollabo template instead
• A good example of a Nicollabo page is Smiling
• To created the page, load the page template from the siderail (Siderail > Templates > (choose from this list) > select --Nicollabo > press enter)
• Below I'll explain the different parts of the template:
• |image =
• Usually covers of Nicollabo songs also contain custom artwork for the PV
• Choose a high resolution picture of the whole group if available, if not try getting a screenshot from the PV in high resolution
• |songtitle =
• Usually covers of Nicollabo songs have distinct version names. Ex.) ✽ Xmas edition ✽
• For the original version use Original ver.
• |yt = and |yt =
• The nnd ID often begins with sm or nm. The yt ID is the part after watch?v= in the link

Reprinting VideosEdit

• A good example of a reprint is this reprint
• Don't link to album exclusive covers. Reprints of those infringes the singer's intellectual property
• If the singer forbid the reprinting of their videos, don't add any YouTube links, unless it's the singer's own upload on their account on YouTube. A list of utaite who forbid reprints, can be found here
• If the singer has uploaded their cover on their own YT account use this instead.
• The reprint needs to contain a link to the original post on NND
• The title and description of the reprint should match as closely to that of the original post
• Choose a video of decent quality
• Do not link to a video that is English subbed
• We are not promoting the translations as we are not a translating site and because they may be incorrect
• Do not link to unofficial videos. For example there are people that mix an utaite's cover with another utaite's (gasshou)
